How to Use Discord Servers to Communicate With Your Friends

 



When playing games online, most people want to communicate with their friends in a way that is secure and fast. Discord servers meet this need, and have exploded since the service began as a replacement for older voice-over-IP (VoIP) services in 2015. Discord is free to use, and you can create your own server or join one that is already running.

Once you have joined a server, you can chat with other members using text, video, or voice channels. Discord also has an option to add bots that can do things like track your server's statistics, play music from YouTube, or perform other tasks. Discord allows you to make your server private or public, and it's easy to invite new users by sending them a link. You can also tweak the settings for your server, including notifications and how to handle push-to-talk (PTT).

If you're looking for a specific community, you can browse Discord servers by clicking the Explore Public Servers icon on the bottom left of the screen. There are servers dedicated to everything from gaming and music to language learning and education. You can also find servers tagged with certain keywords, such as "social," to find communities with similar interests.

When you click on a server, it opens a window that contains a list of the channels in that server. A text channel is typically used for the community to discuss a topic or ask questions, while a voice channel is where players can talk in real time. Discord allows servers to create different categories and subcategories for the channels, so you can sort the server's content and find what you're looking for easily.

Once you've found a server that you like, you can click on the profile icon on the top left of the window to start a text or voice chat with the other members. You can also add them to your Friends list, which means you'll be able to chat with them even when they aren't on the same server as you.

The Discord app is easy to use, and you can get started right away. First, you need to download the Discord app on your desktop or mobile device, and log in with your Discord account. Once you're logged in, the app will open to your Home screen, where you can see your friends' usernames and ID numbers in the top-right corner of the window, and any Discord servers  that you have joined.

You can create your own server for free by clicking on the 'Create Server' button on the left side of the menu. Then, just follow the prompts and templates that Discord provides. Creating a server is simple, and it gives you complete control over the server's settings. You can even set it to automatically scan your direct messages for inappropriate content. Discord also allows you to customize the layout of your server, create text and voice channels, and more. This makes it a great place for gamers to connect with each other and share their love of the game.
